Skimming the Surface: Healing Through Expressive Movement

Class Structure: Series of 1-5 Workshops, 1.5-2 Hours Each

Levels: Open to All

Description: This class features somatic based expressive movement exercises leading participants on their own personal movement journey within a nurturing and safe group environment. When using the language of movement rather than words, a different kind of image or emotion may arise which bypasses the controlling and censoring mind. Words label what we know. Expressive movement reveals the unknown. This workshop aims to find a physical expression to the feelings, whereby a healing process can begin.

Green has led these workshops for a variety of partner organizations including the Department of Corrections at Riker’s Island, Phoenix House, Safe Horizon, Goodwill Citiview, Crime Victims Treatment Center, Elmhurst Hospital, Queens Library and more.

I have worked with these ladies for several years in conventional talk psychotherapy, and have yet not seen such level of emotional impact as this approach had on them.
