We learn to be seen for who we really are – and to others as they really are.  We find healing where before we may have felt pain or disconnection from the self. We find insight, awareness and courage to break and move past old patterns that no longer serve us.  The sessions utilize Core Energetics, an approach that engages group members through body, dialogue and awareness. Group sessions include shared movement and expressive work and opportunities for members to process individual issues and struggles they want support in working through. This group provides a safe and therapeutic environment, where you can express your feelings, take risks, connect to others and further your emotional growth process.

Green Space: Skimming the Surface with Valerie Green

“Skimming the Surface: Movement Healing Workshops” aim to service adult and youth populations that may be overcoming diverse forms of trauma and stress through somatic based expressive movement exercises. These workshops will help participants release blocked and repressed energy causing stress or discomfort in one’s life by integrating movement, feelings, and emotions.

The workshop helps participants confront emotional wounds and bring them to the surface in a gentle and compassionate way. When using the language of movement rather than words, different images or emotions may arise, which bypass the controlling and censoring mind. This experience leaves participants feeing expanded and curious about their emotions, with new insights to move forward from.

Each movement journey is handcrafted to best support the participants. Green serves as a guide to help open doorways where each individual will do their personal work, leading them to a heart centered and intuitive place, finding a physical expression and release of emotions and energy whereby a healing process can begin.

This workshop will be held at Green Space and is FREE of Charge

Valerie Green/Dance Entropy premiere RITE

RITE

Thursday-Saturday, February 29-March 2 @ 7:30pm

The Center at West Park:165 West 86th Street, New York, NY 10024

“RITE” is a healing ceremony, a meditative ritual, and an exorcism of the ego.

Choreographed by Artistic Director Valerie Green, "RITE" is a multi-faceted exploration of our internal struggles with self-image and societal pressures. With a cast of six male dancers, the piece serves as a physical invocation, guiding viewers on a vulnerable journey from Form to Clarity.

Inspired by shamanic journeying and altered states of consciousness, the performance taps into the dancers' instincts, creating a trance-based dance that is a celebration of the human experience. A dynamic exploration of rhythm, energy, and the profound connections between body and soul.

Through our movement, we aim to provoke contemplation and ignite a release of what weighs us down. 'RITE' offers a unique opportunity to delve deep into your humanity and emerge with a newfound clarity, a personal and collective spiritual catharsis.

"RITE offers an explosive appreciation of the human experience and captures what is trapped within our mind and soul, giving us an opportunity to reflect and delve into our own struggles and being”

- Carl Ballenas, Center at Maple Grove Cemetery

Somatic Healing Group

In this facilitated group, we find ways of supporting the unique needs of each member, while also learning to more effectively relate to others.

This group will help with: PTSD, Various Forms of Abuse, Relationships, Anger, Body Image, Guilt/Shame, Anxiety, Panic, or Depression, Self Esteem, Injury, Addictions, Personal Growth, Life/Professional Transitions
